News: THCV, a cannabinoid that boosts motivation!
In a recent double-blind clinical trial, a lesser-known cannabinoid, THCV, was found to have more energising effects without causing the fatigue and ‘munchies’ associated with the more common cannabis compound, delta-9 THC. This discovery, announced by the cannabis genetics company Phylos and the cannabis research firm People Science, marks a turning point in our understanding of cannabis’s potential. THCV: an energising revolution
THCV, nicknamed ‘diet weed’ due to its apparent lack of effect on appetite, is one of the many cannabis compounds gaining popularity on the market. The study involved 78 participants who were given either non-medicated placebo gum, gum containing only delta-9 THC, or gum infused with Phylos’ THCV-dominant ‘Get Sh!t Done’ strain.
An energising cannabinoid
The results were revealing: 20% of participants who received the THCV gummies reported feeling more “energised” compared to the placebo, and 40% said they enjoyed daily activities more after taking this new cannabinoid. Furthermore, the THC group was three times more likely to report fatigue compared to those who received THCV. According to Phylos, both the THC and THCV gummies “increased activity, exercise performance, motivation and well-being compared to the placebo”.
THCV: an appetite suppressant?
Unlike those who took standard THC gummies, 50% of whom reported increased hunger, this effect was not statistically significant in the THCV group. We can therefore conclude that this cannabinoid will not have a detrimental effect on your waistline!
