3x Filtered Hash: How is it made?
Cannabidiol resins are extremely popular in France. Also known as ‘shit’ in slang, hash is a highly sought-after method of consuming hemp for several reasons. Generally speaking, consumers prefer hashish for its very distinctive taste and its more pronounced effects compared to traditional hemp flowers.
Among the CBD resins currently making a name for themselves, 3x filtered is particularly well-known. This cannabidiol resin is filtered three times to concentrate the very best of the flower buds.
Key takeaways:
- 3x filtered hash is a high-quality CBD resin, filtered three times for maximum purity.
- This traditional production method increases the concentration of cannabidiol and other cannabinoids.
- 3x Filtered offers soothing, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, promoting general well-being.
- Its authentic taste and intense flavours come from the high concentration of trichomes and terpenes.

What is CBD hash?
In France, simply saying ‘shit’ is enough for the average person to picture exactly what hemp resin looks like. In France, it is a very popular method of consumption, which is not the case in all European countries!
We could define CBD resin as a block-like condensation of the “kief” (or pollen) from CBD flowers. It is in this pollen that most of the trichomes of the hemp flower are found. These ‘plant hairs’ are where cannabinoids (CBD, THC, CBG, CBN, CBC…) develop. CBD hash therefore contains a high concentration of cannabinoids and terpenes.
The condensation of kief into a block gives it this distinctive appearance – brown and solid, slightly sticky – which has earned it the name ‘resin’. This method of consuming hemp in its hashish form has been known since ancient times… Hashish, incidentally, means ‘hay’ in Arabic, or grass.
CBD hash is produced using the same manufacturing methods as traditional hashish… with the one difference that it is legal! When we talk about CBD resin, we are referring to a hash pollen made from authorised varieties of Cannabis Sativa L., which have a low THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content. This means, in particular, that popular resins such as triple-filtered have been optimised to contain only legal cannabinoids and less than 0.2% THC, as required by law. The purchase of CBD resins is therefore completely legal in France.

Different types of CBD resin: triple-filtered hash
Given its popularity and long history, CBD resin has had the opportunity to develop in various forms and through various manufacturing methods. Numerous experiments have led to the creation, over hundreds of years, of different types of hash pollen. Among the most popular are, for example:
- Afghan Hash: a very dark resin with a strong herbal taste, developed in the East using strains from Afghanistan.
- Red Lebanese: a distinctive hash, known for its fruity taste and orange colour.
- 3x filtered: a hash made from kief filtered three times. This hash is particularly pure.
Triple-filtered hash is one of the most popular cannabidiol resins. Its purity and authentic taste make it a very high-quality resin. How is it made?
Triple-filtered: a special production method
Triple-filtered hash is one of the hash varieties with the highest cannabidiol concentration. This hash requires a longer production time, which allows the resin to be perfectly optimised. Flavours and effects are enhanced by a more rigorous production process!
Like most resins, triple-filtered hash is the result of a traditional production method. The best-known method is also the most natural:
- We select dense, high-quality CBD flowers
- The flower tops are left to dry
- Once the flowers are dry, the kief, or pollen, is filtered from the CBD flowers by sifting
- The pollen, rich in trichomes, is pressed and heated into a compact block
- The hash is ready!
The main difference between traditional resins and triple-filtered hash lies in the sifting process. Whilst most resins are filtered just once, the triple-filtered variety, as its name suggests, is filtered twice more! As a result, this CBD resin is much purer… The trichomes are almost completely separated from the rest of the plant material.
As the kief is filtered three times, we achieve very high concentrations of cannabidiol and other cannabinoids such as CBG, CBN and CBC: between 40 and 80%!
The effects of triple-filtered CBD
Like most CBD hemp-derived products, triple-filtered CBD tends to relax both the body and the mind. Cannabidiol is studied for its soothing, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Consumers buy CBD resins to:
- Sleep, as the cannabidiol molecule is particularly soothing and promotes sleep.
- Relieve pain, as CBD is a natural analgesic as well as having anti-inflammatory properties.
- Reduce anxiety and stress, as it is said to be a good ‘natural anxiolytic’.
- Wean themselves off THC resins.
Of course, CBD resin is not a medicine. It is generally consumed to promote well-being.
An authentic taste: triple-filtered
As triple-filtered hash is produced using traditional methods, it releases extremely compelling resin flavours. Triple-filtered hash is all the more appreciated because, having been filtered three times, it truly concentrates the trichomes and terpenes responsible for the aromatic profile of hemp plants. A triple-filtered resin is therefore all the more flavourful!
The different types of legal triple-filtered products
Triple-filtered products, if optimised to be THC-free, are entirely legal. To be authorised for sale, they must contain less than 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol. This low THC content allows it to retain all the benefits of cannabinoids, without causing any psychoactive effects or addiction.
