HHC-P: What is this new cannabinoid?
CBG9, THCP, THCJD, H4CBD, HHCP and HHCPO are now banned in France. Discover CBD as an alternative!
HHC-P, or hexahydrocannabiphorol, is a cannabinoid that has recently entered the hemp market due to its significant effect on overall bodily relaxation. This ‘new’ molecule is derived from HHC (hexahydrocannabinol) whilst differing from it significantly.
We’ll introduce you to the cannabinoid HHC-P in all its forms: why does it affect the body? What are its effects? In which products can we find it?
Key takeaways:
- HHC-P, or hexahydrocannabiphorol, is a recently discovered cannabinoid with a notable effect on relaxation.
- It interacts effectively with the CB1 and CB2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system, altering our physiological responses.
- Its effects include mood stabilisation, stress relief, muscle relaxation, and the promotion of sleep.
- Although promising, HHC-P should be consumed with caution due to potential side effects.

HHC-P: what is it?
The molecule
Hexahydrocannabiphorol (HHCP) is a cannabinoid. This means it has the ability to interact with our endocannabinoid system. Certain plants, such as hemp, naturally produce molecules that are capable of interacting with our endocannabinoid system. This is particularly the case with hemp, which, as it grows, produces phytocannabinoids such as CBD, CBN, CBC, CBG…
HHC-P is a cannabinoid obtained from the hemp flower.
Nature of the interaction
What do we mean by ‘interacting with our endocannabinoid system’? To put it simply, we have receptors within our bodies that transmit messages to the brain.
These receptors are activated by the body’s enzymes and endocannabinoids. Certain external molecules, such as HHC-P, are capable of replicating this dialogue even though they are not directly produced by the body.
Hexahydrocannabiphorol is highly effective at interacting with our CB1 and CB2 receptors, which are present in the endocannabinoid system. This molecule can therefore alter some of our responses to pain, inflammation, stress or even hunger.
The effects of HHC-P
One could say that HHC-P is a very good friend to our receptors, just like HHC. It will therefore have more significant effects than other cannabinoids. Opinions are often unequivocal: it is said to be one of the cannabinoids with the most convincing effects.
Mood stabilisation
The first observation concerns HHC-P’s ability to soothe the mood. It would appear that this cannabinoid makes one feel lighter and more at ease. Some speak of a feeling of euphoria and joy, a desire to chat and enjoy oneself.
Stress relief
For the same reason, HHC-P is likely to relieve all types of stress. Hexahydrocannabiphorol provides a sense of well-being and tends to calm intrusive thoughts. You feel relaxed, both physically and mentally.
Muscle relaxation
HHC-P appears to significantly relax the muscles. We speak of relaxing properties that are sometimes compared to a ‘body buzz’, that is, a complete sensation of muscular relaxation. HHC-P will therefore have an effect on people who are particularly tense. We refer to this as a ‘muscle-relaxing’ effect.
HHC-P & sleep
As the body and mind are suddenly at rest, HHC-P promotes sleep. Strictly speaking, it does not affect the circadian rhythm, but rather has a general calming effect that helps you fall asleep.
Creativity & hexahydrocannabiphorol
Are you familiar with mind mapping? Mind mapping, or tree-like thinking, is a way of thinking described as neuro-atypical (i.e. outside the norm).
It is a mode of thinking that operates through digression and diversion. One thought leads to another, which leads to another… HHC-P can trigger this somewhat distracted way of thinking, which nevertheless leads to increased creativity and imagination.
Stimulation of appetite
It has been found that HHC-P can significantly increase feelings of hunger. Expect sudden cravings for food!
HHC-P: are there any recommendations?
Does HHC-P have any side effects?
As we’ve seen, HHC-P offers many appealing effects! Caution is advised, however, as this cannabinoid can also cause side effects. These include:
- Drowsiness
- Anxiety
- Lack of concentration, confusion
- Loss of spatial and temporal orientation and motor coordination
- Nausea
That is why this rather pleasant cannabinoid should be consumed in moderation. You should always test your personal reaction to the compound with very small doses.
When should you consume HHC-P?
Given its effects, hexahydrocannabiphorol is not intended for active days. Unlike CBD, this cannabinoid is not suitable for activities requiring full concentration. It is recommended instead in the evening, once all the day’s tasks have been completed.
This is why you should never drive, work, operate dangerous machinery or perform any task requiring concentration after consuming HHC-P.
For example, if you plan to look after children, cook or garden: steer clear!
Are there any contraindications?
Like any cannabinoid, HHC-P is not suitable for everyone. Hexahydrocannabiphorol is strictly not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is also not recommended for people on medication as it may cause drug interactions: seek advice from a healthcare professional.
Of course, HHC-P is not a medicine. It should not be used for therapeutic purposes.
Finally, this cannabinoid must be kept out of the reach and sight of children. It is prohibited for minors.
Which HHC-P products should you buy?
Although HHC-P is relatively new on the market, it is already available in various forms. If you wish to buy HHC-P, you can already choose the product that suits you best.
HHC-P flower
The best-known form, HHC-P flower is already causing quite a stir. The flower buds can be vaped, cooked, brewed into tea and smoked (although the latter method is not recommended). There are already various strains that have been optimised for HHC-P.
HHC-P resin
It is entirely possible to buy HHC-P hash. In France, this method of consumption is very popular, to the extent that certain products, such as sticks, facilitate its use. That is why the most innovative shops are already offering resins made from flowers optimised with hexahydrocannabiphorol.
HHC-P vapes
It could be said that this product is rare on the market. However, it is likely to become the new darling of connoisseurs. Indeed, you are no doubt aware that vaping increases the bioavailability of cannabinoids. Vaping HHC-P means experiencing even more effects!
