CBD dosage: how many drops of CBD for sleep?
Whilst CBD helps combat sleep disorders, has a relaxing effect and promotes better sleep quality, it is still important to choose the right CBD and dose it correctly. Available in several forms, the most effective way to combat insomnia with CBD is to take it as an oil. To help you get the dosage of CBD drops right, we’ve put together a handy guide.
How do you choose the right dosage of CBD drops?
Knowing how to dose CBD is important, because even without THC, its use will affect your body. If the dose is too low, you won’t feel any effects; conversely, the balance between well-being and health could be disrupted if you take too much.
Furthermore, there is no one-size-fits-all dosage; each person must adjust their CBD dosage based on several criteria such as:
- The user’s weight;
- The severity of symptoms;
- The concentration of the CBD oil;
- The CBD dosage indicated on the bottle.
How much CBD is in a drop of CBD oil
To find out how much CBD is in a drop of CBD oil, simply perform a very simple calculation: divide the amount of CBD oil in the bottle by the number of drops contained in that bottle. For example, a 10 ml bottle of 5% CBD oil contains approximately 200 drops, which equates to around 500 mg of CBD, or 2.5 mg per drop.
For a 10 ml bottle of CBD oil, the higher the percentage, the more concentrated it is:
• 10% CBD oil: 5 mg of CBD per drop;
• 15% CBD oil: 7.5 mg of CBD per drop;
• 25% CBD oil: 12.5 mg of CBD per drop.
Regarding CBD and dosage, you should generally allow for 1 to 6 mg of CBD per 5 kg of body weight. This means that for a person weighing between 70 and 90 kg, 15 to 25 mg of CBD oil should be taken for effective results.
Various CBD dosage options
By identifying the cause of your sleep problems, you will be better able to determine the correct amount of CBD to use. Similarly, it is important to take your symptoms into account to ensure you take an appropriate amount.
There are three CBD dosage options:
• Micro-doses: ideal for sleep disorders, anxiety, nausea and headaches, these are suitable for mild CBD requirements (a 5% or 10% oil will suffice) ;
• Standard doses: suitable for pain, inflammation or severe anxiety, these correspond to a moderate need for CBD concentration (15% or 25% oils will be suitable);
• macro doses: used for the most severe cases and conditions such as fibromyalgia or multiple sclerosis, these cater to a high CBD requirement (a minimum concentration of 20% is recommended).
Finally, the best way to take CBD oil is to place a few drops under the tongue. Of course, the quality of the CBD oil you choose will have a direct impact on the results you achieve. You will find broad-spectrum CBD oils (with no trace of THC) or full-spectrum CBD oils (less than 0.2% THC) which will offer you all the benefits of cannabis without the undesirable effects. Furthermore, the risk of overdose is very low compared to the benefits of this product. You can also find CBD in many other forms, such as CBD flowers, CBD capsules or CBD e-liquids; it’s up to you to choose the format that suits you best.
