How to consume CBD?

How to consume CBD?

Cannabidiol can be consumed in many ways: ingestion, sublingual administration, infusions, vaporisation, smoking... In this article, we share all our tips on how to get the most out of your Sixty8 CBD!

Sublingual administration: CBD oil

All CBD oils offered by Sixty8 are sold in a bottle with a pipette.

Sublingual administration is considered by CBD purists to be one of the best ways to consume CBD-based products. As ingestion takes place without heating or altering the product in any way, sublingual administration is certainly the method of ingestion that will allow you to consume CBD in its purest and most natural form.

To consume CBD in oil form, we therefore recommend that you use the pipette provided in the packaging to measure your dose. You then simply need to place the drop(s) of CBD oil under your tongue. Ingesting CBD in this way allows the active ingredient of the product to enter the bloodstream directly. Indeed, the oral mucosa located under the tongue is a particularly thin area that allows CBD to enter your bloodstream. This means you will feel the effects of CBD more quickly than with other methods of administration (around 10 minutes). Furthermore, as mentioned above, as the CBD molecules are not heated, they retain all their active ingredient.

CBD oil is obtained through a full-spectrum extraction process to retain only the cannabidiol from hemp seeds. This method of ingestion therefore guarantees a THC content of zero.

Sublingual administration is the method of consumption recommended by Sixty8 for beginners and connoisseurs alike.

Ingestion: CBD capsules

Although sublingual administration remains the most effective and quickest way to enjoy the effects of CBD, there are other methods for consuming CBD in its pure form.

One of the most intuitive ways to administer CBD is, of course, to eat it. For this purpose, Sixty8 offers CBD capsules. Once again, oral administration does not require heating or altering the product, which ensures the best effects with this type of product.

To consume CBD orally, we recommend choosing Sixty8’s CBD capsules. You simply need to swallow a capsule with a large glass of water, just as you would with a standard medicine. The dosage is slightly less precise than with oil, as the product comes in capsule form and cannot be cut.

This method of consuming CBD is slightly slower to take effect (on average 1½ to 2 hours). This is because the capsule must reach your stomach and begin to be digested before the CBD is released. The active ingredient can then enter your system as part of the normal digestive process.

The main advantage of this method of administration is undoubtedly discretion. Indeed, as it comes in capsule form, it is impossible to determine the composition of the product you are ingesting. If you need your CBD at work, for example, these capsules allow you to remain discreet.

Although CBD capsules are the perfect product for oral consumption, it is possible to consume CBD orally with many other products!

Herbal tea: CBD herbal tea

We’ll be talking more about CBD food products in this section, focusing on CBD herbal teas from the Sixty8 CBD range.

Herbal teas are the most accessible way for beginners to try CBD if they want to give this type of product a go. Both simple to prepare and delicious to enjoy, CBD herbal tea is usually made from CBD flowers combined with a more traditional tea or herbal infusion for an unrivalled flavour.

CBD infusions are prepared just like a traditional herbal tea: bring water to the boil, then wait 5 minutes for the water to cool slightly so as not to damage the infusion’s active molecules; finally, add your CBD infusion to the water along with a fat (milk, butter, vegetable oil, honey…) and leave to steep until the water has infused (15 to 30 minutes). As CBD cannot mix with water, it is important to add a fat base to your herbal tea with which the CBD can mix. In principle, it is necessary to decarboxylate the CBD to ensure the preparation’s effects. If you choose products from the Sixty8 infusion range, this step has already been carried out in our preparation laboratories. All you have to do is enjoy your infusion!

Taking CBD via herbal tea is slightly more complex than using oil or capsules, yet it is also a simple and accessible way for anyone to consume CBD.

Sixty8 recommends this type of product for people who have never taken CBD because of its simplicity and to enjoy the flavour of the CBD.

As with capsules, the CBD is absorbed into your body during digestion and the effects will take longer to kick in than with sublingual ingestion.

We discuss infusions and decarboxylation in more detail on our blog if you’d like to find out more.

Vaporisation/vaping: CBD flowers

Vaporisation is one of the most popular ways to consume CBD among enthusiasts.

To consume your CBD in vaporised form, you’ll need a few bits of kit: specifically a vaporiser or an e-cigarette.

You’ll obviously also need CBD flowers, hash, CBD crumble or CBD e-liquid

Luckily, Sixty8 stocks all these products in the shop!

Unlike CBD joints, vaping allows you to have very precise control over the combustion temperature you use. This is very important and is what will allow you to enjoy the effects of CBD to their full potential. When CBD is burned traditionally in a joint, the molecule is damaged by the excessively high temperature.

With a vaporiser, you can adjust this temperature with precision. Using a vaporiser is very simple: just place the CBD in the designated chamber and activate the device.

If you have an e-cigarette that uses e-liquids, simply fill the e-liquid compartment and use your e-cigarette as you would with any other e-liquid.

You’ll find a range of e-liquids in our shop, featuring sweet and varied flavours to best suit your tastes.

We also offer a wide selection of flowers and other CBD products, perfect for vaping. We particularly recommend our CBD vaporisers in standard size or compact with the Wave model.

Topical application: CBD cosmetics

Although CBD is often consumed orally (whether through ingestion such as with oil or herbal tea, or through inhalation with flowers and e-liquids), it is also possible to consume CBD in a more passive and gentle manner.

There are many CBD-based cosmetic products available: face and body creams, lip balms, massage oils, moisturisers…

Using these CBD cosmetics is as simple as you might imagine!

In fact, the active ingredients of CBD are directly incorporated into our formulations for making the various cosmetic products, so all you need to do is use them in the usual way to enjoy their benefits. The typical effects of CBD are much milder, or even almost non-existent, as these products find it harder to enter your system through your skin.

However, CBD cosmetics have other very interesting benefits: antioxidant, moisturising, omega-3 and omega-6

Sixty8 recommends these products if you want to enjoy the natural cosmetic benefits of CBD without its relaxing properties.
